What our clients are saying

Testimonials

It will be well worth your time!

We engaged New Agenda during the summer transition session for my Aiden at Virginia Military Institute. He was feeling overwhelmed with the college coursework, his athletics (NCAA Football) and the rigors of VMIs military training. He was experiencing high anxiety, struggling with the best way to organize his assignments and just overall felt concerned about managing his time effectively.

New Agenda completed an assessment, and assigned him to the most fantastic advisor, Gwyn! Aiden has weekly, virtual sessions and touchpoints that help him stay organized and on track. His confidence has increased tremendously and it shows in his solid academic performance.

I learned a long time ago that it’s ok to ask for, and to seek help. I can honestly say this is the best decision we could have possibly made aside from his decision to go to VMI. He is learning lifelong skills - skills I personally had to struggle my way to develop.

If you think your college student, high school student, or even you could benefit, I would encourage you to check out New Agenda, LLC. It will be well worth your time!

Maria has a gift for a firm yet compassionate approach.

Our daughter is on the autism spectrum with ADHD and has worked with Maria since elementary school. She is now a senior in high school and has been accepted at her top college choice for next year. Maria has been a valuable partner in our daughter’s education by advocating for appropriate IEP services in school. In her individual sessions, Maria has provided our daughter with valuable self-advocacy skills for success in life. Maria has a gift for a firm yet compassionate approach to our daughter, holding her accountable to goals and strategies.

We have been clients with Maria for the past 6 years.

We have been clients with Maria for the past 6 years. Our son is on the Autism Spectrum and struggles with Executive Function. We have been so happy with the continued growth that we have seen in him working with Maria. She not only helps him but is a huge wealth of information for both my husband and I and our 3 other children in helping our son become the best he can be.

Amie has been a blessing to our family.

Amie began working with my son while he was in ninth grade. He was struggling with organization and time management. His teachers knew he could do the work, but he often didn’t complete and turn in assignments. Amie helped him set up routines to organize his work load and break down assignments into manageable pieces. It was such a relief to not have to battle with him every night or argue about his grades and missing work. Amie has been a blessing to our family.

I highly recommend Amie and Maria.

Our daughter has a complicated learning profile and has received therapy for her entire life. When she was in second grade, Amie and Maria started working with her collaboratively. As a team, they were able to create significant changes in her academically and socially. They have taught her strategies to help manage her executive function challenges and gain independence while challenging her to achieve more! I highly recommend Amie and Maria for anyone who is struggling to motivate and hold their child accountable.

They are simply wonderful!

It is hard to put into words the talent, skill, and compassion Miss Amie and Miss Maria possess - they are simply wonderful! As the parents of an ADHD and LD child, watching our son struggle with daily planning and schoolwork was heartbreaking. We felt helpless. That all changed four years ago when we started working with Miss Amie and Miss Maria. Their unique backgrounds in therapeutic services and education and their independent approaches to each child complement each other and combine for remarkable results. Miss Amie and Miss Maria created actionable growth and support plans around our son’s strengths while providing support and strategies to address his specific challenges and needs. Their holistic and multifaceted approach has not only changed our son’s life and trajectory but also that of our entire family. The proof is in our son’s independence and confidence as a student, son, sibling, and friend. Four years ago, we could not have imagined the young man that he is today!

Amie was instrumental in helping our struggling teen son.

Amie was instrumental in helping our struggling teen son. She is smart, compassionate, reliable, and organized. And she really knows how to connect with kids (and their parents!). It was invaluable having a professional intermediary mitigate the stress of an extremely disorganized high schooler. I would highly recommend her.

Frequently Asked Questions

New Agenda has provided answers to the most frequently asked questions below. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact us.

  • When should academic coaching start?

College academic coaching can start at various times, depending on the student’s needs, but here are some key moments when it is particularly beneficial:

    1. Before the semester begins – to help students plan their schedules, set goals, and develop strategies for time management and organization. For students with ADHD, learning disabilities, and neurodivergent patterns, we recommend beginning academic coaching for college students prior to their first semester of college. This ensures students are prepared to implement processes and systems on the first day of their Freshman year.
    2. Early in the semester– to establish effective study habits and routines before coursework becomes overwhelming.
    3. After receiving initial grades – if students notice they are struggling or need to improve their academic performance.
    4. During midterms or finals – to provide extra support in preparing for exams and managing stress.
    5. Anytime a student feels overwhelmed – to help navigate challenges such as procrastination, workload, or balancing academics with other responsibilities.

Starting early in the semester often provides the most proactive support, but academic coaching can be valuable at any stage.

  • Can Executive Function Coaching help a student who has not been diagnosed with ADHD?

Absolutely! Executive functioning difficulties are not only seen with ADHD. Even students who don’t have any diagnoses may struggle with executive functioning skills. Coaching can be helpful to any college student who has weaknesses with executive function skills.

  • How long will my college student need academic coaching?

The length of time a college student may need academic and executive function coaching varies depending on individual needs, goals, and progress. Some students may benefit from a few months of coaching to develop specific strategies for time management, organization, and study habits, while others might need ongoing support throughout their college experience to manage ADHD-related and/or learning challenges and stay on track. The duration often depends on factors such as the student’s self-awareness, their level of executive functioning, and how effectively they implement the strategies learned during coaching, as well as the specific demands within their college major program. Many students find that regular sessions for at least one semester or more provide significant benefits.

  • How long are executive function coaching sessions?

Sessions are 45 minutes. We recommend a frequency of service at once weekly, although some students benefit with twice weekly based on their needs and the program they are in.

  • Where are New Agenda’s college coaching services available?

New Agenda’s college coaching services are virtual and offered nationwide as well as internationally.

For those interested, in-person sessions are available in specific locations in the United States. Please inquire; session rates vary for in-person services.

  • Do you take insurance?

We would love to accept insurance, but EF is considered an elective option. While insurance companies do not provide diagnosis or service codes for EF coaching, some clients have explored alternative funding options for coaching services.

    • 529 Plan Option: An option for financing coaching services may include utilizing 529 Plan college funds. Please contact your 529 Plan provider for more information.
    • FSA/HSA Option: Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) funds to cover the cost of coaching services. FSA/HSA providers may have varying requirements and approval processes. Please contact your FSA/HSA provider to inquire whether our services qualify as an approved use of these funds.
  • Do you tutor in academic subjects?

Executive function (EF) coaching works on skills to help move students toward academic success and independence. Academic Coaching may be included with executive function work. We will discuss your student’s individual needs during our 15 minute consultation.

  • What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept online payments with a credit or debit card.

  • How do we access session notes?

Session notes can be accessed through our client portal.
